Useful summary of the ways in which today’s students communicate from Sarah Perez at ReadWriteWeb.  If you have children pre-teen or older, this won’t surprise you.

  1. Not overly impressed with this, as some people commented at the original posting. Just measuring “online” communication without including phones in the mix weakens the value for people planning a complete communication program. The snarky response from the survey originator that doorbell ringing was not included either doesn’t sit well as a reason for not including phone contacts.

That said, it is interesting to see email score as high as it does in an age when it is too often easily dismissed. Targeted email with a message of interest to the recipient should remain a part of a complete communication program until people opt-out.
