Watched a live (webcast) debate tonight. It’s part of a series put on by the Miller Center for Public Affairs at the University of Virginia. This particular discussion was sponsored by the Lumina Foundation. The speakers were well-chosen and likely helped illuminate the issues behind the rising cost of higher education. Speakers included Gail O. Mellow, William E. Kirwan, Daniel Hamburger, and Richard C. Levin.

Interesting: One audience member managed to create a great moment of awkward silence by asking, “If the model is broken, what’s the new model?”

In response to the question, Richard Levin (Yale University) advocated the use of “clickers”. God help us.

The discussions are archived and available.
